The Bentway’s Block Party is Back and Bigger Than Ever!

The day-long, free, celebratory street party returns on August 13 with live music, roving performances, a cheerleading workshop and show, an art market by Toronto Art Crawl, delicious street food and more

July 20, 2023 [Toronto, ON] - Today, The Bentway announced the return of its annual Block Party, taking place on Sunday, August 13. Torontonians are invited to a day of live music, performances, family-friendly activities, art workshops, street food and more. The free event will run from noon to 9:00 p.m. at The Bentway, under the Gardiner Expressway at 250 Fort York Blvd.

Fresh off an appearance at Coachella, Brooklyn-based musician BAYLI will headline the evening with her anthemic production. Toronto DJ duo TUSH, known for pushing the boundaries on disco and house music, will bring their energetic live show to the main stage, as will genre-hopping local DJ Sofia Fly, a mainstay of queer dance floors in the city.

New this year, Block Party visitors can check out an artist’s market by Toronto Art Crawl - bringing over 80 local artists and artisans selling photography, sculptures, jewellery, fashion, home decor, and one-of-a-kind items to The Bentway Skate Trail.

There’s so much more for party-goers to experience throughout the day:

The Block Party has become The Bentway’s signature summer event, known for being an inclusive, joyful, and art-filled day where all are welcome. The event is part of The Bentway’s Beyond Concrete summer season, a series of free art installations, performances, workshops, and large-scale celebrations.

About The Bentway

The Bentway works “to ignite the urban imagination”, using the city as site, subject, and canvas.

Anchored under Toronto’s Gardiner Expressway and guiding its complex future, The Bentway is a growing public space, and much more. The Bentway is a new type of civic organization: a not-for-profit, powered by vital partnerships with the City of Toronto, residents, supporters, artists, city-builders, and dreamers. The Bentway is a catalyst rooted in experimentation, leading a creative movement to re-imagine the opportunities of urban spaces. Phase 1 of The Bentway opened in 2018 and is already a vital public space, backyard park, cultural platform, connector for the western Waterfront corridor and a demonstration of what is possible.
